Emily D Photography is 5   – and what’s with all the pink hearts?

A couple of weeks ago, I invited a long list of some favourite ladies – women I’ve worked with, learned from, wanted to get to know better etc –  to join me in a lovely photography studio for an afternoon of fun photos, lipstick matching with Shira, crystal readings with Abby and clothes shopping with Smithery – quarterbacked by my event planning friends at Start Beyond.

While I didn’t call it a birthday party, the event was, most definitely a celebration. I loved having the opportunity to reconnect with so many people who have made running this business such a pleasure.

Five *full-time* years in, I still love the variety and challenge of photographing people in all settings. The thing that binds all of my business interests together is that the images I create are of people feeling good about themselves in the moment – setting their stuff aside (like a hatred for being photographed!) and simply feeling comfortable enough to let me capture them.

To me, it doesn’t matter if I’m photographing a school of wild children, a business with wild adults ;-), or family with wild adults AND children. I always leave a shoot feeling full and fulfilled and so damn grateful.

The future is bright

The five-year anniversary of my business felt like the right time to expand my team and hire a second photographer. I did this for two reasons: I have the great fortune of occasionally having more work than I can handle, and I really don’t love shooting products the same way I do people.

So I’m very pleased to introduce you to Antoinette Scott, a product photographer who feels the same way about shooting products that I do people – basically a match made in heaven. I’ll still  look at every single image that leaves our studio, and be out there shooting as much as ever.

I hope we get to work together

On that note, if you’re wondering how I work with everyone from families to businesses please let me tell you:

  • Families (and newborns) –  I have a basic package where we photograph you in a nice location and a premium package that takes a deeper dive into telling the story of your life. Wondering what the heck that means? Get in touch.
  • Businesses – this is where I come into your business and photograph it’s people, how it works, and the products you produce and/or the services you provide. We can create look books (these are becoming real faves), and/or a social media package where I define your calendar for you and photograph enough images for the month, quarter or year.
  • Schools – I’ve been photographing schools for a long time – but now, I’m dipping my feet into the TDSB (exciting right?), as I continue to work with private schools and daycares. Basically I walk in, set up a back drop and photograph your kiddos in their natural habitat.
  • Headshots – you need a few images that you can update on your social media profiles, for featuring yourself etc to more involved images that show you at work – this is really a package for employees of companies or solopreneurs.

Having said all of that I hope you’ll consider me, and my growing team, for your photography needs. Please feel free to reach out at any time with questions or to discuss your needs.

And if you’re already a customer of mine, one more huge and heartfelt THANK YOU for being part of this dream of mine over the past five years.
