The Experience

Having your photograph taken professionally can be daunting. But don’t worry – it won’t be as bad as you think and the end product will absolutely be worth it. Here’s an overview of what you can expect when you choose to work with me. Package details and examples of my work can be found here.

All of my packages include an initial phone consultation. This is so I can get a sense of who you are, and understand your hopes and goals for the photo. You can ask me any questions you may have and I’ll walk you through some tips for a successful shoot.

Most of my packages take place at your home, workplace, or favourite outdoor spot. I do, however, offer studio head-shot sessions, and can arrange an indoor space for you if you require. Whenever possible I use natural light.

Helping you Prepare

Once you book your session, I will send you a dressing tip sheet developed by Suzanne Colmer of Your Shop Girl with tips and tricks to look your best. For newborn photography, simple is always best. If you don’t have a white onesie, let me know and I’ll bring one along. If your session is in your home, you’ll also receive some tips for preparing your space. If you have special items you want included in your shoot, no problem – we can discuss during our consultation.

What to Expect

My style of photography is fresh and my goal is honesty. Once we tap into your motivations for your images during your consultation, my goal is to photograph that emotion.

Being photographed can feel uncomfortable – but that’s ok. I have two young kids, a reluctant-to-be-photographed husband and parents who freeze in front of the camera. In other words, I get it. Luckily I did a few years at Second City so I might not exactly be funny but I certainly think I am. I always manage to get everyone feeling comfortable during the photo shoot experience, whether they’re laughing with me or at me.

I can almost guarantee that you’ll leave saying ‘that wasn’t so bad’. And when you see your photos you’ll feel certain it was worth it.

Following your session, I select the best images for presentation to you. Your final selections will be processed, re-touched, and sent to you electronically within two weeks of our portrait session. The numbers of photos you will receive varies by package. For headshots, you will be able to choose from a selection of images.

I believe in printing your images right away – for two reasons. The first is simply because if you don’t, you probably never will. The second is because technology changes rapidly. If you wait, you risk compromising the quality of your prints. I would be happy to help you with your print order.

Some of my packages come with a photo book, and all include the option of ordering prints once you receive your online gallery.
